Up until now and in true local fashion, KJ would duck away and disappear when all the cameras would show up on site. Now he had no choice! Here’s KJ’s interview with Nike discussing the differences between living in Hawaii, U.S. and Barcelona, Spain. Thank you, Nike, for providing KJ with such an amazing opportunity!
KJ says that the drills are different and often confusing, and often not delivered in his native tongue (English). Pay attention and do your best, that’s all you can ask of yourself on such a grand stage. KJ is #99 and can be seen in this video at times 0:58 and 1:48.
KJ settles in for his first day at the Nike Global Finals. He texted to say that it was challenging, but he’s hanging in there. He also said that he needs to pay more attention in Spanish class 😉
In a tryout consisting of some of Hawaii’s best amateur soccer players, KJ was chosen as the one boy to represent Hawaii at the U.S. Finals at the Nike headquarters in Portland, Oregon.
